I was just reading an interesting article over on the SouthBendTribune.com website entitled “Saving marriage from the BlackBerry” and it offers 3 tips for keeping your BlackBerry addiction from spilling over into your personal life. I must admit that, at least at some level, I practice all three of these tips.

The first tip is no BlackBerry in the bedroom. My motivation for keeping my BlackBerry out of the bedroom is a bit different than the one suggested in the article, however. The constant blinking light and the random vibration from incoming email drives me nuts. Additionally, keeping my BlackBerry in my bedroom would counteract the benefits of tip number two.

More tips after the jump…

Research in Motion co-CEOs Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie made the Forbes Billionaire Rich List coming in at the 583rd and 618th richest people in the world. Mike Lazaridis is worth an estimated $1.7 billion dollars and Jim Balsillie is right behind him at $1.6 billion.

I just want the Research in Motion nominating committee to know that I am available for the vacant Chairman of the Board position.

Here is an stat that really doesn’t mean a whole lot in the grand scheme of things when it comes to how well the BlackBerry is really doing but it is an interesting statistic none the less. The fairly popular PDA site Brighthand says that the BlackBerry is the least popular PDA on it’s site.

Each month, Brighthand publishes a list of the most popular handhelds and smartphones. This report is compiled based on the number of views each product page receives, so every time someone clicks on a product they’re giving it a vote in these monthly rankings.

This listing doesn’t necessarily indicate which models are the best selling, just which ones Brighthand readers are most interesting in learning more about.

Research in Motion co-CEO and president, Mike Lazaridis, did a Q&A session with Laptop Magazine’s Mark Spoonauer recently and had some interesting things to say on the future of the BlackBerry, 3G, Wi-Fi and more.

You can read the entire Q&A here, however, I would like to comment on the last question and answer.

Q: What can we expect to see from RIM for the rest of 2007? Are there CDMA versions of the Pearl and 8800 coming?

ML: One of the great things about the BlackBerry is that because it’s a Java environment, it really allows us to quickly port the BlackBerry experience to other devices and to bring along with that a very high level of fit and finish. We’re not having to re-debug the applications. That allows us to very quickly put out new products. We have a really great relationship with the CDMA carriers, and we’ve launched very successful products with them, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we have products coming in the future.

<RANT>As I think about it, ML’s answer here ticks me off.

Someone over in the Viral Marketing Group at Research in Motion decided that the BlackBerry mascot needed his own MySpace page complete with videos and wallpapers and such.

Have you heard of Dateberry? From what I gather it is an Orkut style, invitation only, social networking site for BlackBerry addicted men and women looking to meet others with similar interests.
