hate to burst anyone's bubble, but i just called a Sprint store in Manhattan and they said it would be available "sometime in December." not sure who to believe at this point- perhaps the phone is only available online starting 11/23 and in stores the week after?

I wouldn't necessarily say Sprint's locked down the GPS feature like Verizon. Sprint didn't lock the GPS in the 8830 or the SIM card like Verizon.

Oh ok, cool, thanks.

Just saw that the ad mentions Sprint Navigation, so I found it on the Sprint site. Hadn't seen it mentioned here before, y'all can check it out here:
http://www.nextel.com/en/services/gps/sprint_navigation.shtml

Looks just like VZ Navigator, but it's kind of cool you can choose to have access for a month or just for the day when you need it. But it looks like VZ's not the only one guilty of removing features.

Slush, it's not black, although Sprint's ad may look like it. The Sprint 8130 will be amethyst. Very slick from my perspective. Got this from the BB website: http://www.rim.com/news/kit/media/images/product/8130_amethyst_GEN_frontnoshadow.jpg

i believe it will be "locked" just like verizon's.

definitely a better looking device, and it also has sprint's tv service. i'm shocked verizon didn't offer the same on their pearl 2 model.

That black looks a lot spiffier than VZ's silver.
It shows the GPS in the picture. Is there a Sprint service for that, or will it be built-in for free use?
