Slacker Offering Free BlackBerry Curves On All Carriers

August 8, 2009 by Robb Dunewood 4 Comments

You read the title correctly…  Slacker, you know, the company that makes the really cool internet radio app for the BlackBerry, is offering free BlackBerry Curve 83xx devices on all 4 major U.S. carriers.  What is better more is that, less signing up to a new 2-year activation with whichever carrier you decide to go with, there are no strings attached.

Read the fine print. It’s a “Simplexity” deal. Read all about Simplexity on http://www.ripoffreport.com . They are notorious ripoff artists.

This would be a smart idea for Slacker (instead of R&D and building their own hardware) It would also be a smart idea for RIM. Sadly for Slacker, RIM consumers, Simplexity add yet another layer of crap over and above that of the four orifices.

Another reason why RIM needs to get into the unbranded, and unlocked. direct sales, service and training market (in addition to the four orifices carrying BB models branded, and locked. Partnerships with other media companies through App World would even be more the reason.
