Slacker Internet Radio Now Available For The BlackBerry

January 8, 2009 by Robb Dunewood 21 Comments

Update 2:  Slacker Now Available For BlackBerry Storm

Back September of last year at the CTIA conference Slacker announced that they would have a free internet radio application for the BlackBerry coming out in Octber.  October has since come and gone, however, I am somewhat pleased to announce that free Slacker Mobile internet radio player for BlackBerry is now officially available.

UPDATE: You can get slacker work on your Storm if you point your browser directly to the OTA download link.

http://www.slacker.com/dwls/bb/slacker_mobile.jad

Once installed you will want to disable compatibility mode by going to Options>Advanced Options>Applications and highlighting Slacker Mobile for BlackBerry.  Hit the blackberry button (the one with the rim logo) and select disable compatibility mode.

Found via Pinstack.

I say that I am somewhat pleased because this is what you get when you try to install Slacker Mobile on the BlackBerry Storm.

I guess that I will be waiting a little bit longer..

You can read the full press release over on CrackBerry.com

Absolutely love Slacker on the PC. Wish I could use it on my BB but I have an 8703e which is stuck on v4.2x. I urge everyone to try this out – I think you’ll love it.

    I found this on Pinstack:

Looks like you can install it on the Storm with this workaround.

I just installed this on my BlackBerry Curve. This is a really nice application. I just got my first BlackBerry from work about 3 months ago and never knew that there were fun, non business related applications out there.

I listend to the jazz channels all the way into the city on the train this morning whereas normally I am listening to my iPod. I think that I am going to have to invest in a space battery… 🙂

Installed today on my VZW Curve. Drops occasionally, but overall works well and the sound quality is very good.

    Maybe someone can help me!
I just tried to add slacker to my curve. I was able to install it correctly, but when I go to register, it keeps telling me registration failure. Any ideas why or how to fix it?

ps-I am running 4.5 os, have deleted and reinstalled it with same problem. I have the bb 9330 by vzw.

It just keeps buffering and I never hear any audio. I have an unlimited data plan and I’ve never had issues with other software. Any hints?

Just downloaded this for my 8310 Curve and also use the online version for when I’m sitting at my desk.
The mobile version takes a bunch of processing power and really it’s hard to do anything else of the curve when this is running.
The desktop version is great. Both the mobile version and desktop version have great song selections and I love the artist bio feature in the desktop version.
They also have quite a database of the strange and wonderful artists that I tried to stump them on.
    I rate this a 9 out of 10.

    Hello,
I just downloaded this app onto my Storm. I am registered online but when I enter my password, it keeps telling me it cant connect. i disabled compatibility mode already. the exact reason is as follows: “Login Failed. A connection with the server could not be established.”
So I can’t connect to the server from my bb either. Anyone have any suggestions??
