Research in Motion is doing everything in its power to make sure that the the BlackBerry PlayBook doesn’t suffer from a lack of BlackBerry PlayBook applications like BlackBerry 6 did when it was released. Jeff McDowell, RIM’s senior vice-president for business and platform marketing said they the company expects to have 4000 third-party BlackBerry PlayBook applications available at launch by March.
McDowell said also, speaking about battery life, that the PlayBook will have equal or greater capacity than the iPad with a smaller battery. The last time RIM said that they would have something equal to or greater than something from Apple was when in 2009 they said that the WebKit BlackBerry Browser would be on par with the iPhone. Clearly, that was not the case so I won’t keep my fingers crossed when it comes to getting 10 hours.

why do they keep comparing the playbook to the ipad/iphone, if they really want to create a stand alone product without people comparing it to anything else they need to stop with this. Who at RIM is to be blamed if ppl prefer the ipad/iphone and the playbook is a flop ? obviously they make the ipad to sound like the best thing out there and RIM strives to play catch-up to the ipad.
