Research in Motion settlement offer “Unacceptable”

This passed Thursday BlackBerry maker Research in Motion offered a settlement to patent holding firm NTP in an effort to settle their patent dispute. According to NTP co-founder Don Stout in a Reuters Newswire article, the written offer was “unacceptable”. So unacceptable that NTP isn’t even negotiating with RIM. “They have responded yesterday in a manner which is unacceptable so we’re not negotiating,” said Stout.

The Wall Street Journal reported the NTP would settle for 5.7% of future revenue, however, Stout wanted to make it clear the NTP and RIM are not close to a deal.
