Russell Shaw over on BBHub is reporting that one of the owners of the domain name BlackBerry8800.com has been contacted by Research in Motion and that a deal has been worked out to transfer ownership of the domain to RIM.
Registering domain names in anticipation of a company wanting to use that domain name later, or cybersquatting as it is often called, can be quite lucrative when compared to the 8 to 10 dollar initial investment. Cas Thompson, the cybersquatter that owned BlackBerry8800.com hasn’t disclosed the terms of the agreement with RIM, however, says that the BlackBerry maker has ‘huge’ plans for the site and that the BlackBerry 8800 will be available very soon.

Berry411, arguably one if not the best free BlackBerry applications out there, has just been updated to version 3.73 and is available for download.
The latest release can be viewed as a minor update adding an expanded autocomplete dictionary with hundreds of thousands of entries that are updated daily on the Berry411 backend servers, Yokel local search which allows you to find products in stores near you, and a bug fix for a v.3.70 security warning.
Berry411 can be downloaded directly to your BlackBerry OTA here. If you don’t have Berry411, get it. In my opinion, it is one of the best free BlackBerry downloads available.

According to the Observer of London Google, in its continuing efforts to completety take over the world as far as being the middle man between information and people who want it, has held talks with Taiwanese handset manufacturer HTC and mobile telecom giant Orange about a multi-billion dollar partnership to create a ‘Google phone‘, or, GoogleBerry, as I like to call it.
Their plans centre on a branded Google phone, which would probably also carry Orange’s logo. The device would not be revolutionary: manufactured by HTC, a Taiwanese firm specialising in smart phones and Personal Data Assistants (PDAs), it might have a screen similar to a video iPod. But it would have built-in Google software which would dramatically improve on the slow and cumbersome experience of surfing the web from a mobile handset.

Here we see Sarah Michelle Gellar with an old school Nextel BlackBerry 7520 with the big antenna and all. Nextel really needs to come out with an 8700 series device. I know that they want to get everyone moved over to Sprint, however, they could make a dual-mode device or something.

I just read an article, or review depending on how you look at it, on ComputerWorld.com about the BlackBerry Pearl and why it is the ‘smart phone of the future‘.
The trackball will become the dominant navigational device for mobile devices within two years.
The size and sophistication of the Pearl are enough to set it apart from the pack, but the namesake trackball is the piece de resistance. Think of the trackball as a 2-D scrollwheel on crack.
This is a prediction made by the author, Mike Elgan, and I think he may be on to something.

It looks like an email has been sent to BlackBerryCool and BBHub from the administrator of Spain-based Miblackberry.com with a screen cap of his server logs that shows that his site was accessed by a BlackBerry 8800.
With the BlackBerry 8800 being rumored to be released as soon as the mid to late January, test units are undoubtedly floating around at this point.
We didn’t get the email, however, the screen cap was posted to Miblackberry’s site as well.
