Sync iTunes To Your BlackBerry With BlackBerry Media Sync

If you own a BlackBerry Pearl or newer BlackBerry device listening to music is absolutely something that you can do. The reality, however, is that BlackBerry users simply don’t use their BlackBerry as an MP3 player even though they can.

To put it bluntly, the Roxio Media Manager sucks, plus, you already have a few hundred bucks tied up into your iPod and all of your music is already in iTunes. The convenience of not having to carry around your iPod because you can now put MP3s on your BlackBerry really isn’t all the convenient when you get right down to it because you have to convert everything from iTunes.

This is all going to change with BlackBerry Media Sync.

To make a long story short BlackBerry Media Sync will allow you to transfer music that you have in iTunes directly to your BlackBerry. There aren’t a lot of details yet, however, being able to sync iTunes to your BlackBerry will actually make listening to music on your BlackBerry less of a chore.

For me, my BlackBerry will probably never replace my iPod, however, I can see where I would sync some of my iTunes content to my BlackBerry for those rare times when I don’t have my iPod but still want to listen to or watch something.

BlackBerry Media Sync is not yet available however you can find out more about it here.

Six Apart Releases Native BlackBerry Client For TypePad

Six Apart, makers of the popular blogging engine Moveable Type and the company behind TypePad, a hosted solution for Moveable Type, has released a native BlackBerry Client for TypePad hosted blogs.

TypePad customers can now easily capture and upload photos directly from their Blackberry Curve and Blackberry Pearl phones to their blogs wirelessly. TypePad bloggers can also use their device to compose draft blog posts, store them for later editing or publish them from within the device’s trackball and keyboard interface. In creating and saving drafts for later editing, bloggers are able to use popular desktop publishing controls with the convenience of mobile blogging.

RIMarkable runs on top of WordPress, however, we’ve got another blog or two hosted on TypePad and we will be downloading this client about 12 seconds after posting this post.

Windows Mobile Expected To Account For 40% Of The Smartphone Market By 2012???

I just heard some unbelievable spin coming out of Microsoft this morning. They expect Windows Mobile to account for 40% of the global smartphone market within the next four years.

Did Microsoft make a bid for Research in Motion or Apple recently? If not, this is the most ridiculous thing that I’ve heard all day. Granted, today isn’t even half over yet, but, still.

Depending on whose numbers you look at, Microsoft has less than 13% of the global smartphone market now. Apple and Research in Motion are growing by leaps and bounds and lets not forget about Linux based mobile operating systems. I know Linux isn’t big here, but, it is getting big about everywhere else.

For Microsoft to be able to pull off an additional 27% of the global market share in the next 4 years they are going to have to come up with an OS better than the BlackBerry OS and better than the iPhone OS. Unless they do a do-over, I doubt that Microsoft could even make Windows Mobile stable within the next 4 years, let along out shine RIM or Apple.

Verizon BlackBerry Curve Or BlackBerry Thunder? Which One Do You Want?

I don’t imagine that Research in Motion or Verizon are too happy that news about the upcoming touchscreen only BlackBerry Thunder has been leaked out.

Verizon has just released the BlackBerry Curve 8330, one of the most highly anticipated BlackBerrys ever, and less than a week week later very credible leaks about arguably the most consumer oriented BlackBerry device to date, intended, in my opinion, to compete directly against the iPhone, come out stating that the BlackBerry Thunder may be just a few months away.

How will the leaked news about the BlackBerry Thunder affect sales of the Verizon BlackBerry Curve?

Don’t get me wrong… I think that the sales of the Verizon BlackBerry Curve will do incredibly well. I can’t help but wonder, however, if there there will be a noticeable percentage of BlackBerry toting Verizon subscribers that will wait until the BlackBerry Thunder comes out instead of moving to a BlackBerry Curve now.

Verizon subscribers have waited for over a year to get the BlackBerry Curve. I’d be willing to bet that quite a few would be willing to wait a few more months for the BlackBerry Thunder.

Which one do you want?

Research In Motion Announces BlackBerry Developer Conference

One big BlackBerry conference (WES) per year just doesn’t cut any longer for Research in Motion so they’ve decided to give all of the BlackBerry developers a conference of their own and have announced the new annual BlackBerry Developer Conference.

“Based on growing demand from the BlackBerry development community, we are very pleased to announce a new conference focused on developing consumer and business applications for the BlackBerry platform,” said Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO at RIM. “The new annual BlackBerry Developer Conference in the fall will complement the successful Wireless Enterprise Symposium held each spring and will provide a dedicated forum to help developers keep pace with advances in the latest hardware, software, tools and best practices for developing on the BlackBerry platform.”

The BlackBerry Developer Conference will make its inaugural debut later this year the week of October 20th in Santa Clara, California.

BlackBerry Thunder: Touchscreen BlackBerry Coming To Verizon

We’ve known for some time that RIM is working on a touchscreen BlackBerry. We didn’t know that the device would be code named the BlackBerry Thunder and that it could be a lifetime exclusive to Verizon and Vodafone.

Lets let that sink in for a minute. Not only could the touchscreen BlackBerry Thunder be coming to Verizon first in the U.S., it may only ever be offered by Verizon.

The BlackBerry Thunder will have a touch screen only. According to BGR, the first touchscreen BlackBerry will not have a slide out keyboard and only have 4 physical keys. Rumor also has it that the BlackBerry Thunder will by a hybrid device with CDMA EV-DO Rev. C and GSM HSPA for when you traveling internationally.

For clarification, Rev C., known as UMB is practically dead. If the device will indeed launch with a 4G solution, our bet is on LTE

I’ve been debating or not if I want to buy the new Verizon BlackBerry Curve. I don’t really need it, as my 8130 is working just fine. I believe that I will wait to here bit more about the BlackBerry Thunder. If this is really coming out next quarter, I think that I just might have to wait for it and forego the Curve.
