I look forward to this device. I have used 3 different blackberry models over the years and have been using an Iphone for the last 4 months. I can tell you that while the Iphone is a cool device, It is defficient in many respects to Blackberry. The phone itself on the iPhone is not great. I find both the internal antenna and the Bluetooth abilities of the iphone to be weak compared to my more recent blackberrys. The touch screen typing may be fine for those of you of a slighter build. But as a man with larger than average size hands, it is very difficult compared to most blackberrys. Lack of push email sucks. Granted the ipod is wonderful, and the pictures and the browser on Iphone are second to none. But for most here, those are the secondary features of their device. Iphone excels at those, but is a step behind in the promary features, being how does the phone work, how does the email work ?

Seems to me that lots of people who've bought iPhones have buyers remorse whether they know it or not, and are trying to convince themselves that their iPhone is better than anything else out there, to rationalize the purchase. Many such people are obviously hellbent convincing everyone that iPhone is better than BB. Pllllllease. Get over youselves.

Sure the iPhone is cool. If you want to blow hundreds of $ to be cool, than you're Apple's perfect customer. Get off the RIM boards and enjoy your iPhone.

It may do some things well, but for any business user, it's all show no go.

I've used both extensively. There is no comparison whatsoever between a BB and iPhone when it comes to business use. That's not just limited to the phones features, interface, speed, solidity, and simplicity, but also to the wireless syncing options, the enterprise management, etc etc.

It's all about the user's needs. iPhone for fun, sure. For business, or any serious email, or third party apps, nothing but BB.

By the way, if RIM put out a phone that would sell for the price the iPhone does, you can bet your @ss it would be miles ahead. Not worth it though, the business users would never support that price point (at which you can buy a laptop or full blown computer, not just a so-called handlheld one).

I have to admit to not fully utilizing my BlackBerry's full functionality. I have tricked it out with cool accessories from www.blackberrysource.com but I have NOT taken the time to figure out how to download pics to it, etc. I have looked at the interface but it is not intuitive and I don't have time to look through the user manual. It basically allows me access to email from my clients when I am traveling - although I had thought I would use it much more originally when I bought it. That being said, since that is ALL that I use it for I am very close to tossing it and moving to the iPhone. I have looked at friends iPhones and they are intuitive, easy to use and frankly...very cool. If this "9000" is the future path I am about done waiting for RIM to get "cool".

I'm not big on touch screens but would like an improvement over the current BB trackball, but not sure what that would be.

raspman,

Do you have a iPhone? have you used a iPhone more than standing in front of a store model? It doesn't get much more simple or powerful than the iPhone. Many are buying iPhone's since they are so simple to operate, yet so powerful. You can't really compare a RIM blackberry to the iPhone, one is a smartphone, one is a handheld computer. IMO I find the iPhone is alot more simple to operate than my BB.

RIM cannot out Apple Apple.
