This will really piss me off big time due to the fact that RIM was so shortsighted to see that it should have included more ram when the original 9700 was released!!! I mean come on!!! They honestly can't tell me they did not see this shortfall of ram being an issue in the near future when they released it this past September! The FREAKING knew OS 6 and a new browser was on the horizon and they went ahead and released it with insufficient mean!!! Or maybe they purposely did this to get more bills from me to trade up when it comes out! I can't believe that I will be stuck with a device (a FLAGSHIP device for that matter) that will be limited to the lifespan of one OS cycle! Goodbye RIM....hello anything else.

Dear RIM:
Please stop refreshing old devices and make some new ones.
Sincerely,

A long time customer who got fed up and is now a former customer.

Trade up program? Comon' Rob. After the debacle with the original Storm and the Tour, you think they'd offer a trade in for one of their better working devices? Highly unlikely...

As for the image, to me it looks like a 9700. I would think that it's blurred for a reason...the rumor. :)

Interesting as well to those of us who have barely had the 9700 for a couple of months!

I like your idea about a trade-up program, Robb because of the two issues we've raised.....one, the 9700 not being upgradeable to 6.0 and two, the device hasn't really been out very long.

To double the memory, load it with a new OS and browser and not allow current owners to do SOMETHING, would definitely piss ME off! :-)

Interesting indeed...

There's no question that there would be PO'd 9700 users. If this is the case, I wounder if RIM would do some type of Trade up program?

Interesting...........

This would lead me to believe the current 9700 wouldn't be upgradeable to OS 6, possibly due to it only have 256mb of RAM. I had heard a rumor to this effect a couple weeks.

Currently the 9700 is RIM's flagship device. I am sure there would plenty of PO'd 9700 owners if they couldnt upgrade to OS 6.

hey thanks for the tip!! i was planning to get a Bold 9700 in the next fewdays but i think i will hold off since an upgrade is coming soon!...i guess it makes sense looking at the CDMA version released that they would upgrade the hardware for 9700...heck i will take it even without the webkit and OS6.0 if they just upgrade the hardware,..

thanks for the timely tip...only hope 9700a does not take too much time to materialize
