myBoxTone Insight Monitors Your BlackBerry’s Health… For Free

August 20, 2008 by Robb Dunewood 10 Comments

BoxTone, a big name when it comes to BlackBerry monitoring and user management, have come out with myBoxTone Insight beta, a free BlackBerry application that allows you to monitor your BlackBerry’s vitals and track it’s health from your BlackBerry.

myBoxTone Insight tracks your BlackBerry’s most important performance metrics 24×7, including:

  • Signal strength
  • Battery remaining
  • Memory free
  • Data sent/received
  • Calls made/duration

I haven’t had a chance to check out myBoxTone Insight just yet, however, it is a free BlackBerry download, so, if you decide to check it out yourself, come back and tell us what you think.

It took couple of hours before they approved me for the beta program, but now I have it running on my 8310. Looks really cool. The visualization is quite innovative. The data shown could be quite useful while trying to figure out when weird issues come up with the BB. The app has a lot of potential. Sent them couple of suggestion using the Feedback link on the app. I was surprised how promptly and quickly they responded to me.

i got an email from them, but I get a 907 Invalid COD, HTTP Error 500: Internal server error. Sucks.

My company pays for boxtone too and they never sent me anything about this BETA software.

    Adam & Ray,

In the initial stages of our beta, we have found a few minor glitches with the approval and installation of the application on BIS-Only BlackBerrys. To ensure a smooth download and installation process for all, we are deferring the approval of BIS registrations (e.g., BlackBerry, Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo addresses) until those issues are resolved. We expect these issues to be resolved quickly and we will resume approvals and downloads as soon as they are addressed.

Your application will be approved as soon as these minor installation issues have been addressed. At that time, you will receive an email with a download link.

We apologize for the delay and are working hard to re-start the beta process.

    Thanks for your patience.

    Chris,

This beta was intended as a public beta and was not pre-announced to our clients; however, we do have several other beta and early release projects in which we would very much like your participation. Please email me at mitch dot berk at boxtone.com and I we can discuss our upcoming projects. I appreciate your enthusiasm for our products.

An Invalid COD error is generally either caused by a browser setting set to something other than “BlackBerry” or a an existing or conflicting file in your browser cache. I apologize for any inconvenience or frustration this has caused.

    1. Please ensure that your browser emulation mode is set to “BlackBerry” (within the browser, menu->Options->Browser Configuration-> Emulation Mode: BlackBerry.
    2. Clear your Browser’s cache (within the browser, menu->Options->Cache Operations-> Content Cache –Clear & Pushed Content-Clear).
    3. Reboot your BlackBerry to completely flush the cache (pull the battery and restart).
    4. Navigate to http://my.boxtone.com/insight/download/ from the internet browser on your BlackBerry and enter your email address to download myBoxTone Insight.

Again, I apologize for any inconvenience or frustration.

    Thanks for your patience,

    BoxTone

BoxTone, I am impressed with your support given this is a beta product.
Hope you keep up the good work.
