Microsoft and RIM Launch Live Search For BlackBerry

September 12, 2008 by Robb Dunewood 2 Comments

I just picked up on this via Fox Business Report by way of BlackBerry News but it looks like Microsoft and RIM have come together to offer some pretty cool integration of the Live Search application for the BlackBerry.

“BlackBerry smartphone users will be able to use Microsoft Live Search as their search engine of choice within the BlackBerry Browser as well as access Live Search on Mobile.BlackBerry.com”

To be honest, I never use Live Search, as Google does everything that I need, however, I will at least give Live Search a try since it is free. I just installed the new Google Mobile App for BlackBerry so we can give the two free BlackBerry downloads a head to head comparison.

You can download Live Search Mobile for BlackBerry by visiting wls.live.com.

live search is preeetty snazzy. as the other comment said, you can vocally input addresses. it also has a “refresh traffic” option when you look up driving directions. it’s home page has 7 icons: categories (which will look up everything from nightclubs to elementary schools near any given location), map, directions, traffic, movies, web, weather. it’s definitely super cool in comparison to the google option but google has that “my location” option that finds you. i currently have both on my phone and though live search has more handy fuctions, “my location” makes google worth keeping around also.
