Jim Balsillie Steps Down As Chairman of Research in Motion

by Robb Dunewood on March 5, 2007 · 2 comments

Research in Motion co-CEO is voluntarily stepping down from his role of Chairman of the board at Research in Motion.

“Consistent with current best practices in corporate governance, the roles of chairman and CEO are being separated,” the firm said.

Balsillie’s resignation as chairman was a voluntary one and was done to allow “future consideration of a non-executive as chairman by the nominating committee.”

Last week was a relatively quiet one in the world of BlackBerry, however, this one started off with bang. RIM first announced that it would restate financials for the last 3 years or so and now the Balsillie steps down as chair.

I wonder what else we are in store for?
