Jabra JX10 Bluetooth headset

February 20, 2006 by Robb Dunewood 4 Comments

I just got a new accessory to go with my brand new BlackBerry 7130e and as you can see from the picture to the right, it is a brand new Bluetooth wireless headset, the Jabra JX10 Bluetooth headset to be exact. All I can say is that I absolutely love this thing.

The JX10 is the smallest headset that I have ever seen and it weighs less than 1/3 of an ounce. In fact it is so small that you don’t even have to use the ear hook. You can just stick it in your ear like earbud headphones.

Digital sound enhancement via DSP automatically adjusts volume and microphone sensitivity to help filter out background noise. The JX10 gets about 6 hours of talk time and can be charged with an AC adapter or from your PC with a USB adapter.

I don’t do very many product reviews here on RIMarkable, however, if you have $170 bucks burning a hole in your pocket next time you are walking around Best Best, I definitely recommend the Jabra JX10.

Your experience seems to contradict the mixed results others have had with this device. Before you plug it too stongly besure you test it in noisy environments. The noise cancellation DSp is where many of these headsets fail miserably. When the noise level is low they are ok but as the noise level rises (like at airports during announcements) they start chopping up your speech to the point the other party can’t understand anything you say. If you want to really put it to the test, take a theBoom wired headset with you to a noisy airport and call someone with it and then switch to the JX10 and ask the pther party which sound better. The only headset I have found that comes close is the Custom AX2.

I have been in contact with Jabra support for the last 3 months about the JX10 not working with my 7130e at all. I mean it connects, but I cannot hear anything. Jabra support says they are aware of the problem and are working for a patch for it, but, again, that’s been for 3 months. But it sounds like you all are at least hearing something, correct? I like the product potential but I’m getting ready to punt.

When I used the Jabra JX10, it seemed to work just fine for me, however the cheesy ear clip broke on me… Twice… When I took it back for the second time, I decided to go with a Plantronics.
