It Appears That The Rogers BlackBerry Bold Wasn’t As Delayed As Previously Thought

August 21, 2008 by Robb Dunewood 6 Comments

Earlier this morning we heard that the Rogers BlackBerry Bold was going to be delayed again. Well, it turns out that this is only partly true. You are able to go and purchase the BlackBerry Bold on Rogers site, however, you might be SOL if you were hoping to run into a Rogers store and pick one up.

400 frigging dollars!!! Is that how much that thing is going to cost here? I’ve been trying to wait to for this to come out becasue I have a small crack in the screen on my 8800 but I am not going to pay $400 for a phone!

If RIM makes everybody in the U.S. wait until next month to get the bold and then charges twice more for it than what the iPhone sells for, they will lose a ton of credibility in my eyes.

There is no reason for it to cost so much and no reason for it come out so late after it has debuted everywhere else.

RIM needs not to bite the hand that feeds it.

I don’t imagine that the Bold will cost that much in the U.S. simply because RIM needs for this device to do well.

Rogers and Canadian mobile carriers in general are notorius for ridiculously high prices on handsets as well as service fees.

The only reason the iPhone didn’t cost more than it did is because Apple set the price and Rogers had to ahere to it in order to carry it.

I am guessing that the BlackBerry Bold on AT&T will be $299. I would like to see it at $199, however, my gut tells me that AT&T has no intention of making it the same price as the iPhone.

I think apple is taking a hit on the iphone selling for so cheap. Its like gaming consoles one company will sell it for alot less but still make up for it with accessories and other ways. Its to see how many units (cellphones) they can get out to the cosumers.
