Is This The First Shot Of The Official BlackBerry Twitter Client?

January 20, 2010 by Robb Dunewood 4 Comments

Is this the first picture of the official BlackBerry Twitter Client?

You may have heard rumors that RIM and Twitter are working on an official BlackBerry Twitter client.  Are these the first screen shots Twitter for BlackBerry Smartphones? (We have no clue if this is what RIM’s Twitter client will be called but it does follow naming conventions for MySpace and Facebook)

Twitter for BlackBerry Features Include:

  • Notification of number of new tweets on the home screen with icon, like text messages
  • Main app opens friends timeline
  • Ability to view followers
  • Follow/unfollow functions
  • Create direct messages, replies and new tweets
  • Keyword search and saved results
  • Tweet photos directly from camera or memory card
  • View photos from other tweets
  • View trending topics
  • Address book integration

The native BlackBerry Twitter client is now said to be launching in February (next month). Until RIM officially announces it consider all of this a rumor, but since February is right around the corner we don’t have long to wait and see if  it’s the real deal. According to some of @jmatuk’s Tweets and @roblaguna, the Twitter client was mentioned at a BlackBerry Bold 9700 launch event for Telcel in Mexico.

    Looks nice and clean.

I wouldn’t mind trying it out as I’ve still yet to find a client that doesn’t randomly stop working for hours or days on end.

Looks pretty straight forward and easy to use. We’ve been waiting a long time for this rumored RIM Twitter client.

Who cares. There are like 10 other Twitter clients out for the Blackberry. What could be taking RIM so long? SocialScope is the hotness!
