Comments on: IMAP E-Mail Now Instantly Pushed To BIS Users

Well, this *WAS* blazing fast, but over the last week it appears to have reverted to the old 15 minute delay on every email. Both for IMAP and MAPI accounts.

Any official word on this from RIM? What’s the deal? Did someone change a setting over there, get slapped and change it back?

I never had a problem getting my gmail instantly? IMAP has been on forever.

Was I just lucky?

@Paras – Hotmail doesn’t support IMAP, you would have to use a service like IzyMail – http://v3.izymail.com/ then just enter there server info., into your BIS account.

It is 18$ a year for a subscription I believe, but they do offer a free trial.

I put together a step by step tutorial for others trying to get IMAP GMail (all email) working on your BB. This is using the Rogers BIS portal, but RIM just skins it for them, so it should be the same for all BIS users.

@Scott – thanks very much for that information, leaving the passwords blank is the key – to others doing this, you only have to enter imap.google.com as the email server and it auto configures port 993 for you if you are using Gmail. Someone at RIM was thinking.
