Goldman Sachs Calls BlackBerry Torch 9800 Launch Underwhelming

August 16, 2010 by Robb Dunewood 6 Comments

I am going to go out on a limb and assume that when a big firm like Goldman Sachs says that the launch of the BlackBerry Torch is underwhelming, the vast majority of Torch owners have upgraded from other BlackBerry devices, and then proceeds to downgrade Research in Motion (RIMM) to sell, the release of RIM’s new flagship BlackBerry isn’t going quite as well as they had hoped.

U.S. citizens call Goldman Sachs screwing over the American people and helping with the financial crisis OVERWHELMING thanks.

I want to check but it’s on AT&T only. Thats where Rim dropped the ball. Spread the love around Rim and you’d get better results.

Too little, too late. Android and iphone are the kings of the consumer market. BBM alone can not save RIM when they put out a half assed product like this. Underpowered, last years screen tech, and this is RIM’s flagship product?

‘underpowered, last year’s screen tech’…have you actually used one?

Yes, I am actually using one now. As I said, BB6 is solid. The Torch hardware… Not so much

The product really is underwhelming considering the competition. Why they did not up the specs is beyond me. But for BB die hards, I guess it is an okay upgrade.

If RIM was really serious about stealing iPhone customer’s OR just increasing sales of the Torch, why would they not simultaneously release the Torch on Verizon? I agree with the other comments that the phone is underwhelming at best. RIM needs to launch a new phone at the same time as having a fast browser and new APP’s for customers to play with. I love my BB Tour 9630 but feel its getting dated. Would love a Torch but I find it almost laughable that I would have to switch to AT&T (not going to happen) to get it. The Droid X or Droid Incredible look appealing!
