Future BlackBerry Devices to be powered by Intel ‘Hermon’ processors

For several months now, we have heard rumors about Research in Motion and Intel teaming up on next-gen BlackBerry devices. Today, Intel signed a technology deal that will supply ‘Hermon’ processors in upcoming BlackBerry mobile email devices.

We chose the Intel (Hermon) processor because it provides us with the increased processing horsepower we need for future wireless applications, without compromising battery life requirements,” RIM’s Co-Chief Executive Mike Lazaridis said in the statement.

If the 8700 is announced tomorrow, will it be powered by Hermon?
