Free Spreadsheet Editor For BlackBerry

December 5, 2007 by Robb Dunewood 13 Comments

One of the really nice features on the BlackBerry is that you can view Excel spreadsheets as attachments. One of the things that kind of sucks is that you can’t edit spreadsheets with out buying some expensive third party application.

That was, at least, until Simprit, the free software community, released GridMagic Community Edition.

I haven’t had the chance to check GridMagic out, however, it is a free blackberry download, so I will leave it to the RIMarkable community to give it the once over.

If you download GridMagic, which you can do by clicking here, come back, leave us a comment, and tell us what you think. One thing that we know for sure is that the price is very compelling.

It took me forever to find the mobile link to download this to my Blackberry:

    http://www.simprit.com/wap.wml

You’ll see 3 products you can install. GridMagic is the first, and shouldn’t waste your time on the other two. GridMagic from what I have seen is pretty nice. You get the Trial Version which you can morph into the Community Edition (so no more bothering) with a simple click.

One big CON: I can’t exit it. It says in memory, and by going Menu >> Close you get in a loop between the GridMagic Options and an empty sheet.

it worked fine for me quite straightforward.
Followed the link in article http://www.simprit.com/free/gridmagic/ click on donwload icon, entered my email addr then just go to blackberry message to donwload.

i can exit the program using the Back button. Did try the Menu – close, hit the smae thing, fortunately I seldom use Menu to close a program.

Great app especially when it is free 🙂

To berryfans1: I didn’t mean I can’t use the back button to exit, I meant I can’t truly exit because it stays loaded in Memory. If you can’t hit Close and the program goes away, it means you haven’t really left it (in most cases).

Yes it is a nice program because it is free. Of course a LOT of the options under the menu you can click on product the nice message “Hey, this is the free version. You can’t do that yet!”

I don’t remember where did I downloaded it, but I have it a few months now and still working perfectly. I have it for free. Trial means, you can’t send this records as attachment by mail using VR+ software. But still you can send it using your regular mail… 😉
