Free BlackBerry Video Converter

November 19, 2007 by Robb Dunewood 27 Comments

I have to admit that the “watching movies on your BlackBerry” bug has yet to bite me. Maybe this is because converting video into a format that you can play on your BlackBerry is a bit of a pain as well as time consuming. For those of you, however, that are taking full advantage of your BlackBerrys movie playback capabilities, Mediacell BlackBerry Video Converter 2.0 may be the tool to make doing so less of a pain and take less time.

I haven’t had the chance to give Mediacell the once over, however, it is a free BlackBerry download, so, if you decided to check it out, come back and leave us a comment telling us what you think.

You can download Mediacell BlackBerry Video Convertor 2.0 here…

A few things I noticed on my 8100:

    1. the SeaByrd converter – http://www.seabyrdtech.com/bbvideo – convetred files to avi and they were way less grainy
    2. the letterboxed videos I have are coming in squished, which is probably not the right word.

I think issue 2 may be a problem with the .107 Tmo OS that I have seen around BlackberryForums. Also maybe there are some settings that need to be tweaked but as a non video editor, it should only require a few clicks to get the video converter correctly.

I downloaded, installed and tried this app. I do not understand why so many people say it does not work. I converted two 700 MB xvid movies into 66 MB MPG4 movies, copied them to my Curve and everything worked fine.

Thank you for your feedback, would it be too much to ask if you could share some advice on how to set up the the SeaByrd converter in a easy way. I’m new on this.

      I really appreciate your time.

I have found that iPod Video converters like Videora iPod Video Converter work great! Give it a try. Make sure and set your video encoding to MPEG4 and NOT H.264 because the Blackberry doesn’t support it. Here is a post with more details:
    http://free-bb-video.blogspot.com/2007/10/blackberry-video-youtube-video-capture.html

I have cut 10-15 videos and DVDs to my Curve and it looks beautiful.

I’m putting all I have learned into an Blackberry Video ebook. It should be out by Christmas.

Media-Cell people are deceitful;the program is a TROJAN,which will attempt to access the net as soon as the download is completed.Your anti-virus should report it as such.
Download and scan to see for yourself.
    BEWARE!!!!

Video Converter for Mac (Mac OS Snow Leopard) is all in-one solution for Mac users. iPhone Video Converter or Video Converter for Mac allows Mac users to enjoy almost video and audio on Mac system. Its great, easy to use and powerful editing features make it popular Mac Video Converter.
