Detailed BlackBerry Storm Video

November 18, 2008 by Robb Dunewood 4 Comments

A fairly detailed BlackBerry Storm video has appeared on YouTube.  It’s almost 5 minutes long, but, is absolutely worth the watch.

The camera was too far away to really get a sense as to how the screen looked. He should’ve also removed his GSM phone from his belt before he did the review. Too funny. I wish he attempted to fly on the device so I can get a good read as to how fast the device responded to one command after another…immediately. The way I use and abuse my Pearl, I wonder how much the Storm can take. I personally think that my only three main concerns with the Storm are going to be:

    1. Responsiveness. How fast will it operate and respond?
    2. The Keyboard. How comfortable will it be? How soon can I adapt to the touch screen as opposed to the physical keyboard?
    3. Touchscreen endurance. This is probably the biggest concern of mine, and only time will be able to answer my question…How durable is the screen going to be after heavy usage? The screen operates as one large button as the individual in the video explains, but with all of the constant typing on the screen, how will it hold up after time? iPhone users are basically typing on a screen that won’t budge, nor does it act like a button, so that eliminates some of the worry regarding endurance. But how will the Storm hold up after power users start hitting that screen? I’m sure they’ve done their due diligence, but it still remains to be seen by the consumer.

I think curiosity has my attention more so with this device than just another pretty gadget that looks cool.

PS – Was it me or did that Storm look absolutely small in that guys hands? I’m certainly digging the size. After comparing the Bold to my Pearl, there’s just no way I could walk around with that thing. I’d rather stick with the Pearl, believe it or not. Never thought a few CM’s could make that much of a difference in hand.

    “I, I, I, I, me, me, me, me”

How dare this poor guy post a RIM Storm YouTUBE video to try to educate others which clearly is not up to the expectations and “power user” demands? How dare verizon not send a special someone a personal invitation to demo and purchase a Storm since they too are a verizon Blackberry user? How dare RIM make poor design choices making Blackberry’s to the age old proven size with full qwerty keyboards when the Pearl fits so well in certain “power users” small hands? Come on youTUBE guy post a more professionally shot flick and answer this self proclaimed “power user”s questions damn it! ha ha ha ha
