BlackBerry Storm OS 4.7.0.85 Leaked

December 28, 2008 by Robb Dunewood 22 Comments

Just a little over a week after BlackBerry Storm OS 4.7.0.83 leaked, another leaked OS has made its way onto the interweb.

OS 4.7.0.85 for the BlackBerry Storm can be found online in a unofficial way, however, word on the street is that that lastest update might actually be the next official release.

I haven’t had the chance to install 4.7.0.85 as of yet, however, those that have are saying that the updated OS is much improved even over .83.

You can download BB OS 4.7.0.85 here…

Is anyone else having problems with the battery? My screen goes active about once a minute, which kills my battery. What’s even worse, is my Storm somehow draws even more power when its TURNED OFF. That’s right, folks: My phone goes dead in about 2 hours when its powered down.

Am I the only experiencing this? Will this be fixed in the new update?

D Train, I am also experiencing that screen flash thing, but I’m still on the original firmware.

Do you have youtube app on BB? I noticed that if it is not shut down (closed) properly it causes the behavior you described. I had the same problem. Powering off and on did not solve it. I had to take the battery out and then enter. Hope it helps.

Yes I do have the YouTube app on there… Ill try closing it properly. As for the battery drain while my phones turned off… That was happening long before I had the youtube app.

Sidenote (Not to sound like a complainer or anything): I can’t answer phone calls while the YouTube app is running.

    Thanks for your help!

I only hope that the new official release remedies many of the issues out there. Bluetooth, memory, audio, speedialing, etc. There’s just so many to list.

It seems like RIM should spend some time focusing on perfecting their software rather than release all sorts of new models. RIM needs their software to catch up to their hardware.

With a slowing economy, I think it would be the perfect time to slow the release of new models and catch their breath.

The software is really the key; Apple understands this…we don’t need an explosion of hardware, we need software that just works.

I updated the OS with 4.7.0.85 and the only problem I am having now is my keyboard format change in landscape…it is weird now. Any remedies for this?

I’ve been running the .85 release since Dec 29 and no major issues.
One complaint though. My Bluetooth stereo headphones will no longer activate to play Movies.
It’s like having my old Curve back. Ugh!
