My guess is that the Storm 2 will come out around the same time this year as the original storm came out last year. We know that the Tour is coming out this summer to do battle with the next iPhone and following it up with a Storm 2 right before Christmas will give Verizon very good coverage and penetration. RIM could always go to Sprint or one of the Canadian based CDMA carriers if they don't like Verizon's schedule. They could have created the Storm 2 as a GSM variant. At the end of the day, mobile carriers, Verizon included, only really control what happens on their network. How could Verizon possibly hold RIM up from releasing the Storm 2 if that is what RIM wants to do?
