I haven't encountered this but of all the things that I wish RIM would do with BB Messenger, I wish to god they would start saving your contacts to a central server. My first Storm I used the BB Messenger quite frequently. Many of my colleagues and I found it a fun way to chat without taking up precious SMS limits and clogging our mailboxes. Unfortunately after my Storm broke after a tragic 3 foot fall on to carpet (go figure! It survived a 6ft fall on to brick!) I had to get a new one and lost all of my contacts and conversations. With AIM and a few other clients, you can keep your contacts no matter where you log in at, making it quick and efficient when you need to communicate via chat instead of SMS or Email.
