My argument, though no longer relevant to the original post, was that my BB 8703 on EVDO transfers files wireless much much faster than any data transfer my iPhone is able to do over EDGE. Ultimately I agreed with the point the article was making. So ultimately I am talking about: 1. Using the BB as a usb tethered modem vs. using the iPhone over EDGE to download the same file. The iPhone on EDGE is excruciatingly slow compared to what my 8703 is able to do. 2. The iPhone (to my knowledge) cannot be used as a tethered modem, so I was simply comparing iPhone download speed OTA compared to my BB as a tethered USB modem. Thus my EDGE comment. 3. I honestly don't know if the 8130 is 3G, and just assumed it was based on the way this article morphed into my Petarded brain. Ultimately I really don't care because my 8703 is 3G. 4. So really I am talking about wireless transfer with a USB connection. 5. Yes, I am aware that this was not the point of the article. One reason why I'm back with my good old Pearl while the iPhone is being left at home is that stupid connection and cable, not to mention the iPhone's strange random poor battery life which makes the stupid cable/charging situation even worse. Sure hope Apple smartens up and dumps the old 30pin proprietary for iPhone v2 which should be coming or at least announced in Jan. Maybe RIM can help them find the mini-usb standard and also show them how to get some speed out of it. :) Although that still wont be enough to make me put down my BB Pearl, Apple needs to work a few other things out for that to happen.
