After years of using my Blackberry Bold on a Mac with Missing Sync, endless nights of dismal syncs, backups and restores, I find it rather unfortunate that I am still sitting here, at 1am, now doing the exact same sort of stuff with the Mac version of Blackberry Desktop Manager. I may not be able to punch out an email as quickly as I would with a Blackberry using an iPhone, but WHO CARES!!!!!!! Data is KING and my data keeps getting f&*ked up and I’m tired of rebuilding calendars, manually deleting duplicates,etc etc etc. I’d rather have a peaceful night of sleep. Screw you RIM. I hope your stock prices goes to shit.

I was getting “a sync error has occurred” with my calendar and address book and found this helpful tip at http://www.voiptechchat.com/tech/319/blackberry-desktop-manager-for-mac-sync-error/

Using terminal, cut and past the following:

/System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/resetsync.pl reset

and then close terminal and re-sync. It worked for me perfectly!

i have the same problem. i’ve set my appointments to be kept forever on my curve 8320 but it still deletes stuff that are old on the blackberry. this wouldn’t really bother me if the advanced options on the blackberry desktop manager to sync only future events works. But i still end up getting events to be deleted which are from the past. help!

same is true for me. I wasted many hours that first weekend after the software was available. Once I finally got some semblance of a sync to work (without the error messages), it was an incomplete sync, despite choosing to overwrite the device with iCal. I’m back to entering everything twice, on BB and on Mac, and waiting for Verizon to have the iPhone.

Hi,
My iCal isn’t syncing correctly with my Pearl 8130. It keeps trying to delete all the older entries on my computer (this has already happened a few times, but I was able to restore the calendar through an iCal backup). The Pearl is set to “keep entries forever” but this is still happening. I’ve tried “only sync future events” also, but get the same message, though all the events it wants to delete are in the past. Any help would be great – the Desktop Mgr (which I was so looking forward to!) is useless to me as long as I have this issue.

I’m not sure I’m following you properly… This app isn’t perfect yet.. I still get a few errors here and there.

I think it is particularly tricky if you had appointments on your phone AND others that were on your Mac before syncing.. When I did my first sync, I opted to clear all phone entries and overwrite them with that on my mac. It worked perfectly for me..

I cant show you a clip, but if you click on “Advanced Settings” in the Calendar Sync window, there is an option to sync: All Events, Only future events etc.. maybe check that and see if it starts to work..?

1. How do i sync my blackberry curve to my mac? I already downloaded blackberry desktop manager but it won’t pick up my app’ts that I put on my blackberry before I downloaded it.
HELP!
