BlackBerry Deals

BlackBerry Bold and BlackBerry Curve 8900We heard a rumor a week and a half ago that AT&T was going to cut the price of the BlackBerry Bold.  It would appear, however, that AT&T  not only cut the price of the Bold down to $199 after a $100 mail-in rebate.  The price of the BlackBerry Curve 8900 has also been reduced, now only $149.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate.

This probably won’t make all those folks who bought a Curve 8900 over the passed two weeks all that happy…

$49 AT&T BlackBerry Curve 8900So, if you said that you were going to wait for the price on the AT&T BlackBerry Curve to drop a little before you picked one up, you didn’t have to wait as long as you might have thought you would.  Both Amazon and Newegg.com are offering the AT&T BlackBerry Curve 8900 to new AT&T subscribers signing up to a two year contract for $49.99 after an instant rebate.

The Curve 8900 was just released on AT&T’s site last Thursday for $199 after a $100 mail-in rebate.  The fact that you can get it for $49 just less than 5 days later may upset a few early birds, but, is one heck of a deal to say the least.

You may have noticed that there seems to be a lot of good deals going on BlackBerry devices these days.  Amazon is selling the BlackBerry Storm for $99.  Verizon has a buy one get one sale going on the BlackBerry Curve and the BlackBerry Storm.  Many BlackBerry devices are great bargains right now.

When you see discounts on BlackBerry devices profit margins tend to take a hit.  This was definitely the case last week when RIM’s stock took an 18% dive.  According to Research in Motion co-CEO Jim Balsillie in an interview at Global World Congress, however,  some of the recent drop in profit margin for BlackBerry devices may be permanent.

“Some of it was permanent, some of it is temporary, and we see lots of ways to earn that back and we invest to earn that back,”

“Sometimes you have to price and promote and invest into the phase of the business you’re in,”

It sounds like really good prices on new Blackberry devices are going to be around for a while.

$99 BlackBerry Storm From AmazonAmazon.com has a great deal going on the BlackBerry Storm from Verizon.  It will set you back $99 with no rebates if you sign up to a two year service aggrement.  This is, by far, the best Verizon BlackBerry Storm deal that I’ve seen, so, if you’ve been waiting for the price of the Storm to come down, your wait is over.

Verizon Wireless has a heck of a deal on the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 going right now.  You can get your hands on on for $19.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate.

You have to, of-course, sign up to a 2-year service plan and it will probably take a month or so for you to get your rebate back, however, if you were in the market for a new BlackBerry and Verizon is your carrier of choice, this is a pretty good deal.

Check out the Verizon Wireless website for more information…

A BlackBerry Cool tipster is reporting that Cingular will soon offer a BlackBerry Buy 3 promotion that will offer up to a $500 Visa rebate card to any customer buying 3 or more BlackBerry 8800 devices.

Customers must sign a 1 or 2-year service agreement, activate on a Blackberry data rate plan and be active on each line after the 30 day return period in order to qualify for the rebate.

Upgrades are eligible. Voice plan activation is not required. Customers may use BIS or BES as their BlackBerry email solution.

Limit of 15 total (Buy 15 and get $500 VISA rebate card)

Not sure that I understand the limit. Are you limited to buying 15 BlackBerry 8800 handsets and getting $500 gift card for every 3 8800s, or, do you only get a one gift card for every 3 to 15 8800s that you purchase?

We will definitely stay tuned to hear more on this one…

UPDATE: RIMarkable commenter J has cleard things up a bit. You get one $100 rebate for every three BlackBerry 8800s that you buy. The limit is $500 in gift cards.

Believe it or not, super model, Naomi Campbell, has been accused of assaulting another assistant with her BlackBerry. This is the second time this year and the third time that we know of where Campbell has been accused of hitting an employee with a mobile device.

This time Amanda Brack said that she was subjected to a series of “verbal, physical, and emotional attacks” by Campbell shortly after being hired in February of 2005. Gerald McCarthy, Brack’s attorney, said that Campbell assaulted his client on at least four occasions.

In one instance, McCarthy said, Campbell struck Brack in the face with her Blackberry, slammed her against a wall and slapped her repeatedly across the face because a piece of her luggage got left behind during a trip to Brazil.
