I am now on my 4th blackberry 8830 world phone. The echo of my voice that is heard by my callers has been an issue on every phone, but varies by phone. My sprint rep called RIM to help me get to the bottom of this, and the only advice we received was that it sprint's network. While searching for a solution, I found many other folks dealing with the same issues AND they are both on sprints network and verizon's network. Hmmm. how can it be a network issue then ? no one else is having sprint network trouble in my area. I believe it is the phone. I have also tried to update the software and still nothing. Does anyone have any other ideas ?

I'm waiting for my 3rd 8830 to arrive in the mail tomorrow. First one had major issues with dropped calls. Second one has the same issues but also came with a loose keyboard and a washed-out, slightly-green-tinted display. It doesn't make any sense but the dropped calls seem to happen most often when the phone is also receiving data. Verizon tech says voice and data use two different networks/protocols and one shouldn't affect the other. I don't know much about this but anecdotally this is what seems to happen.

Any suggestions? Is the 8830 a lemon or is my phone just a beautiful and unique snowflake? I cannot use this phone for business due to dropped calls in the frequency of several per day.

Yes I am having problems. My voice is cut off too often and can not be heard on the other end. I have about 3-5 dropped calls a day.

When I do a hard reboot of my BB8830, instead of booting back up, the device displays a picture of a battery with a line through it. My battery was fully charged before I removed the device, so I doubt that it's dead now. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it?

Problems with the blackberry 8830:

+The ringtone sound (on it's highest setting) is EXTREMELY low. On the other hand, If you play a ringtone/song through the media player on the speakerphone it's so loud it leaves your ears ringing.

+Don't even try to use this phone at an airport or at any other busy setting because whoever's on the other side will hear the Delta Airlines person 2 gates away loud and clear but will not hear your voice.

+When you DO get to talk in a quiet place, be prepared to hear an echo of your own voice.

+You have to manually change time zones on it. It will NOT do it automatically

+When you dial a phone #, it makes annoying beeping sounds whenever you press a button. There is -NO WAY- to turn it off.

++The battery life is actually very good.

Totally new to web browsing and using very old cell phone beyond'hunt and peck' dial service. Avoided all emails.Glad to hear other's woes, etc. All seemed great until att and web stream images would not download/play. Got all wrapped up trying to download adobe flash plasher. VZW techie says only .mp3 can open on verizon BB by design and to go elsewhere for capability, and will have to tether to computer to get application on phone capable to open other media files.Did I buy a lemon? Do I care? Beam me up Scottie?

Terry and Jim... If you haven't already, try http://crackberry.com/
for anything and everything Blackberry. The BB knowledge-base there (via forums and articles) is astounding. I have no doubt that your questions will be easily answered.
