I would have to say that this is an unexpected turn of events, especially seeing how RIM showed a working pre-release of the client to everyone that would listen back at WES. I was hoping that Picasa for BlackBerry would not only allow you to upload your pictures, but to view your galleries as well. This is a shortcoming of the Flickr for BlackBerry client.

There has been, to my knowledge, no official announcement that Picasa for BlackBerry is dead, however, all the official pages about Picasa for BlackBerry are gone and receiving 404 errors.

Those who follow BlackBerry launches closely probably have already guessed that the BlackBerry Javelin would be coming out on T-Mobile. It doesn’t really make sense for AT&T to release a 3G BlackBerry Bold only to launch a 2G BlackBerry Javelin months later. Additionally, T-Mobile tends to get Wi-Fi enabled BlackBerrys first because they fit in nicely with T-Mobile @Home.

It is, however, the recent API that all but definitively confirms that the BlackBerry Javelin is coming out on T-Mobile. The recent BlackBerry Javelin API includes T-Mobile WLAN error codes. I don’t imagine that RIM would code that elaborate of a bone to throw those speculating what carrier will get the Javelin off of the trail.

Have you noticed that we really haven’t heard much about the BlackBerry KickStart, the first BlackBerry Flip Phone from Research in Motion, pretty much since it was first leaked back at the beginning of the month.

Joe from BBGeeks made a good point about RIM employees not being able to talk about it at WES and actual news about the BlackBerry Bold trumped rumors about other devices, however, we’ve actually seen pictures of the BlackBerry KickStart and have heard that its launch may be just a couple of months away, yet it hasn’t gotten nearly the run that the BlackBerry Thunder has.

We know that most BlackBerry users probably don’t follow the BlackBerry space as closely as readers of this blog do, but, even the crackberry addicts the live for BlackBerry rumors have been unusually quiet on a completely new form factor that could be released in the as early as August.

Will the BlackBerry flip phone flop or will buzz pick up over the coming months?

There are rumors on the street, however, that point to a CDMA version of the BlackBerry Bold coming out on Verizon and Sprint not a year after AT&T, but a couple months later.

That’s right boys and girls… Verizon and Sprint may get a CDMA based BlackBerry Bold by summer’s end. Infosync World is reporting that the BlackBerry Bold will hit Verizon and Sprint in September of this year.
Just yesterday we wrote a post about the 3G-less BlackBerry 9000 code named the BlackBerry Niagara. At least we thought it was code named the BlackBerry Niagara. The non 3G bearing BlackBerry 9000 is actually code named the BlackBerry Javelin and, believe it or not, the BlackBerry Niagara is a EV-DO variant of the device.

Rumor has it that the EV-DO bearing BlackBerry Niagara is supposed to debut sometime in May of 2009. BGR, nor do we, feel that a May 2009 release date sounds quite right. That being said we didn’t think that it would take a year when we asked how long would it take for Verizon to come out with the BlackBerry Curve.

That particular post was written May 6th, 2007. 365 days and 1219 comments later it is still going strong.

I have to say that the BlackBerry Kickstart was a well kept secret. BGR has known about it for some time, however, this is the first that we’ve heard of the device.

I have to tell you that even though I am a fan of clamshell style flip phones, the BlackBerry Kickstart just isn’t doing it for me. The darn thing is just too dag um large. Unless this thing has a built-in site to site transporter like in Star Trek TNG, I think the size of the BlackBerry KickStart will turn off many consumers.

If RIM really wants to do a clam shell right, they should take a look at the Samsung t719. This was the first clamshell to come with BlackBery Connect. If you make your flip phone much larger than this, it kind of defeats the purpose in my opinion.

When Sprint first announced the BlackBerry Curve they said that it would come out in April. Then we heard a lot of rumors that the launch of the Sprint Curve had been delayed, possibly all the way into June. Just the other day Engadget Mobile reported that the Sprint Curve indeed would ship in April. And today, we see that the device won’t be available via the Sprint Store until June 1st.

Now, The Sprint Store technically isn’t Sprint, but, an authorized Sprint reseller. One could gather, however, that if Sprint’s authorized resellers aren’t carrying the device until June, the device probably isn’t coming out until June.

We haven’t done an awful lot of talking about the BlackBerry 9000 primarily because nothing really stood out as significantly superior to the BlackBerry Curve. Granted, the BlackBerry 9000 has a lot of memory and really clear display, but the BlackBerry 8800 style keyboard is con that outweighed the pros in my opinion.

That is until today, however, when he heard rumors that the BlackBerry 9000 sports a front facing video camera. The first thing that comes to mind when I see a mobile device with a video camera on the front and 3G speed is video conferencing.

I don’t know that the potential for video conferencing on a BlackBerry alone is enough to get me excited about the BlackBerry 9000, however, it is enough to get me to at least raise an eyebrow. I just may have to start paying a bit more attention to the BlackBerry 9000… Bad keyboard and all…
