Those who follow BlackBerry launches closely probably have already guessed that the BlackBerry Javelin would be coming out on T-Mobile. It doesn’t really make sense for AT&T to release a 3G BlackBerry Bold only to launch a 2G BlackBerry Javelin months later. Additionally, T-Mobile tends to get Wi-Fi enabled BlackBerrys first because they fit in nicely with T-Mobile @Home.

It is, however, the recent API that all but definitively confirms that the BlackBerry Javelin is coming out on T-Mobile. The recent BlackBerry Javelin API includes T-Mobile WLAN error codes. I don’t imagine that RIM would code that elaborate of a bone to throw those speculating what carrier will get the Javelin off of the trail.

Over the passed day or so, I’ve been taking a look at various smartphones that target individual consumers across various networks and one thing that I noticed was that T-Mobile’s original BlackBerry Pearl 8100 is much less expensive than everything else out there.

The device itself, with a two year service plan, costs under a $150 bucks after a mail-in rebate which is on par with the lowest of the low on devices that can be considered smart phones. Then there is the $9.99 unlimited data plan. Well, that is just unheard of.

T-Mobile’s BlackBerry Pearl is not only a very inexpensive option for a smartphone, but, is an attractive option as a feature phone as well.

I think that the the “Old School BlackBerry Pearl” will do very well this holiday season.

I was just thinking about all the pretty colors that T-Mobile BlackBerry Pearl now comes and how it will be a big hit it will be with all the kids whose parents refused to spend $500 or $600 on a cell phone. Then I thought about how brilliant a move Steve Jobs made when he slashed the price of the iPhone by $200.

Here are 3 reasons T-Mobile needs to cut the price of the BlackBerry Pearl:

The iPhone only costs $100 more than the BlackBerry Pearl before rebates.

Before rebates, the iPhone is only $100 more than the BlackBerry Pearl.

There is only a $100 price difference between the iPhone and the BlackBerry Pearl before the $50 mail-in rebate. Who ever sends those things in anyway?

I was going to make this a top ten list, however, I think that you get my point.

Christmas is exactly 3 months away. Just think of all the extra chores you could get your kids to do if you even hint that you might get them an iPhone as a present. That is well worth the $100.

My 12 year old has agreed to finish the basement and build a room addition on the back of the house if I just contemplate getting her an iPhone for Christmas.

You guys know that I love BlackBerrys. RIMarkable has been running for almost 3 years. I have to be honest though. The BlackBerry doesn’t have close to that type of leverage.
