Sprint BlackBerry Pearl Coming In November…

Sprint has officially announced that the BlackBerry Pearl is coming to their network in November. This comes after the announcement that the Sprint branded CDMA BlackBerry Pearl 8130 would come out in Q4.

Like Verizon, Sprint has set up a site where you can enter your email in so that they can notify exactly when the Blackberry Pearl 8130 will be available.

Why Don’t CDMA BlackBerrys Ever Come Out On Sprint First?

One of our anonymous RIMarkable readers asked a question that we often get from Sprint BlackBerry users.

Why don’t CDMA BlackBerrys ever come out on Sprint first?

They go on to ask if Verizon is paying extra to get the device just a few weeks earlier than Sprint…

Sprint was the first company to announce the CDMA BlackBerry Pearl. They did so before even RIM officially announced it. As cheap as Verizon is, they aren’t paying extra for exclusivity of just a few weeks are they? It would really be nice if Sprint got a BlackBerry first once in a while.

The Sprint BlackBerry Pearl is rumored to come out around Thanksgiving.

Sprint BlackBerry Pearl Will Have Sprint TV

If you take a look at the Sprint BlackBerry Pearl spec sheet you will notice that Sprint TV is one of the exclusive applications that will be offered on the device. Sprint TV is one of Sprint’s Power Entertainment options that allows you to watch live TV with full motion video on your mobile device.

I’ve always thought that streaming video on a BlackBerry would be a huge hit in a consumer model and I hope that the Verizon model of the BlackBerry 8130 has V Cast. I will so be signing up for ESPN MobileTV if they do.

I know that Mobile ESPN failed miserably, however, I believe that it was because people didn’t want to buy devices specifically for ESPN, but, rather a service available to them on their existing media phones.

BlackBerry Pearl 2 Coming To Sprint Around Thanksgiving

The word on the street is that the CDMA BlackBerry Pearl 2 will hit Sprints network sometime around Thanksgiving. We’ve also heard that the Verizon will get the BlackBerry Pearl 2 in the November time frame.

I don’t know that two carriers in the same market have ever released the same BlackBerry on the same day so my guess, if the rumors our correct, is that Verizon will launch towards the beginning of the month or sooner.

How Much Is RIM To Blame For No CDMA CameraBerrys?

After almost a year after the release of the first CameraBerry, the BlackBerry Pearl, it is still unavailable to most BlackBerry users in the United States unless they are willing to switch carriers. I wonder just how much RIM has to do with that?

The BlackBerry Pearl is arguably one of the best selling BlackBerry devices to date, however, almost a year after it first debuted on T-Mobile, it, or any other CameraBerry for that matter, still has yet to be released on a CDMA carrier in the United States. Most device manufacturers, Research in Motion included, are very quick to say that all the power and decision making around device release dates lies with the the wireless carriers. The Apple iPhone release, however, tells me that this is not necessarily the case.

Could RIM exert a little bit more control than they do? I am guessing that they can.
