by Robb Dunewood on March 22, 2007 · 6 comments

Rogers Wireless BlackBerry users wanting to move to the BlackBerry 8800 have been waiting eagerly for the Canadian based mobile tel-co to release the device with several rumored dates already that have come and passed.

The latest rumored release date for the BlackBerry 8800 on Rogers is April 2nd. I stress that this is just a rumor, as I have not confirmed it, however, I have had a couple of people say it in the comments or via our Contact Us form.

Yahoo! Canada Mobile and Yahoo! Messenger are holding a I.M. 2 Win! contest where you can win a free BlackBerry Pearl from Rogers.

Entering for your chance to win is easy:

1. If you don’t have one already, get your Yahoo! Messenger ID
2. Use your mobile phone to text YAHOO to 2222 to enter
3. Every Monday, you will receive a text message with a contest password
4. Log in to Yahoo! Mobile Messenger on your phone using your Yahoo! or Rogers Yahoo! ID and IM the password to this IM contact: winapearl

It’s that simple.

Contest ends April 15, 2007. Standard carrier charges may apply.

As always with these types of contests there is a bunch of fine print. Only 2500 contestants have entered, however, so your chances of winning may not be too bad.

Rogers BlackBerry 8800 Pricing

by Robb Dunewood on March 8, 2007 · 13 comments

The BlackBerry Pearl is on Rogers Site and will cost $799 Canadian without a contract, $599 on a two year contract, or $499 on a three year contract. All that is left to find out is when is the Rogers BlackBerry 8800 coming out?

The March 7th date has come and passed so all we can tell you is eventually, sooner than later, or sometime between now and then. I wouldn’t be shocked to see some Canadian BlackBerry users buying Cingular BlackBerry 8800 devices and getting them unlocked to work on Rogers if Rogers themselves don’t start selling the 8800 soon.

Rogers is running a Free BlackBerry promotion, if you can call it that. All you have to do is buy a brand new BlackBerry Pearl or BlackBerry 8700r and you can get up to 4 old BlackBerry 7290 devices for free.

It is kind of hard to call this a promotion seeing how you can type free BlackBerry 7290 in to Google’s search box and get back in the neighborhood of 800,000 or so results back. Some where you can get the free BlackBerry 7290 without having to first buy another device and even get a free Bluetooth headset thrown in.

New GSM/CDMA BlackBerry in January?

by Robb Dunewood on November 16, 2006 · 1 comment

There are rumors floating around BlackBerry Forums stating that a new GSM/CDMA world BlackBerry could possibly appear up in Canada on Bell Mobility as early as January. Details aren’t absolutely clear, however, it doesn’t sound like the the new Bell Mobility BlackBerry will be the Pearl or the BlackBerry 8800.

According to a couple of commenters, the new BlackBerry will be some type of world phone capable of working on both GSM and CDMA networks. These rumors are in line with other rumors that we have heard about GSM/CDMA BlackBerry as well, however, we had no idea that the device could come as early as January.
