Turkcell Launches BlackBerry Pearl Flip In Turkey

Turkcell and Research in Motion recently announced the launch of the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 in Turkey.

RIM Reports Record Q3 Results

There are a lot of numbers that you can read about how well Research in Motion did in Q3, however, to make a long story short, RIM made more money than they ever have before.

Revenue for the third quarter of fiscal 2009 was $2.78 billion, up 7.9% from $2.58 billion in the previous quarter and up 66.3% from $1.67 billion in the same quarter of last year. The revenue breakdown for the quarter was approximately 81% for devices, 13% for service, 2% for software and 4% for other revenue.   During the quarter, RIM shipped approximately 6.7 million devices.

Research in Motion and AT&T today announced the launch of the BlackBerry Curve 8320 with WiFi support and free WiFi access to any of over 17,000 hotspots nationwide.

Available in sapphire blue, the BlackBerry Curve 8320 smartphone makes it easy to connect to home or campus Wi-Fi networks and to automatically connect to any of the more than 17,000 AT&T Hot Spots nationwide. These include Starbucks, Barnes & Noble and thousands more restaurants, airports, hotels and other convenient locations across the U.S. Those customers who subscribe to unlimited corporate or personal BlackBerry service plans can access these AT&T Hot Spots at no charge.

Research in Motion To Acquire Chalk

Research in Motion put out a press release last night that announces plans for it to acquire Vancouver, CA based Chalk Media Corp. (Chalk) at a price per share of CDN $0.142, or CDN $23,125,000.

Chalk is a member of the BlackBerry ISV Alliance Program and is the developer of Mobile chalkboard which allows organizations to deoploy media rich “PushCasts” which can include audio and video to BlackBerry users.

We should also note that RIM is lending Chalk CDN $2.2 million to keep them up and running while the transaction takes

Research In Motion Had A Very Good Q1

Research in Motion held its Q1 09 quarterly earnings results call today and it is pretty safe to say that if you are in the business of selling BlackBerry devices, business is good.

Revenue was up 19% coming in at $2.24 billion over the previous quarter’s $1.88 billion. RIM sold 5.4 million BlackBerrys adding 2.3 million net new BlackBerry subscribers bringing the total number of BlackBerry users above the 16 million mark

RIM Doubles Q4 Results… Almost Doubles Year

It seems like every time Research in Motion Reports it’s quarterly earnings that they have done significantly better than the same quarter the previous year. Well, the trend continues for RIM’s Q4 fiscal results.

To make a long story short RIM more than doubled it’s Q4 revenue coming in at $1.88 billion, up 102% from $930.4 million the same quarter last year. They almost doubled their year with fiscal year revenue of $6.01 billion. That is 98% over last years $3.04 billion.

To say that RIM is making money hand over fist selling BlackBerrys would be an undrestatement.

RIM Ups Estimates On BlackBerry Sales For Q4

Research in Motion has announced today that they are going to sell a heck of a lot more BlackBerrys this quarter then the previously thought. Initial estimates projected 1.82 million net new BlackBerry subscribers, however, RIM now expects that number to be 15-20% higher.

15-20% amounts to 273,000 to 364,000 more BlackBerry subscribers then RIM expected. That’s not to bad when they were expecting to have a bit of a down quarter.

Research in Motion President and co-CEO, Mike Lazaridis, will present at the TD Newcrest Tech-Media-Telecom Conference next Thursday, Feb. 21st in Toronto.

Mr. Lazaridis’ presentation is slated to kick off around 12:30 p.m. EST and will be available via live audio webcasts on RIM’s website by logging on at www.rim.com/investors/events/index.shtml.
