myBoxTone Insight tracks your BlackBerry’s most important performance metrics 24×7, including:
- Signal strength
- Battery remaining
- Memory free

- Calls made/duration
I haven’t had a chance to check out myBoxTone Insight just yet, however, it is a free BlackBerry download, so, if you decide to check it out yourself, come back and tell us what you think.

I don’t know what the deal is with all the task management software coming out for the BlackBerry lately, however, got-2 Task Management isn’t half bad and is free so we thought that we would give you the heads up about.
What I like about got-2 is how it integrates with both your calendar and GPS so it will remind of tasks based that you need to do not only based on the time that they are due, but if you are near the location where you need to do them.
Let’s say that you have a task like “pick up a gallon of milk”. got-2 to can notify you when you get near the grocery store.
Key Features:
- One easy to read screen with collapsible lists, subtasks, and agenda items.
- Choose your preferred view: simple list or week agenda.
- Get alerts based on time or location
- Share tasks and lists via email
- Prioritize-as-you-go by moving items up/down
- Keep track of progress by marking off tasks, appointments, agenda items, and subtasks.
- Stores data in BlackBerry Tasks and Calendar - synchronizes with Outlook and Google calendar.
- Location integration with Google or BlackBerry maps.
- It’s FREE!
Check it out here…

I was just checking out a really cool BlackBerry application called QuickText which basically breaks down to speed dial for SMS. QuickText is such a neat idea that I think it should, like HTML email just was, eventually be included in the core BlackBerry OS.
As BlackBerry users become younger, the way they use their device is different from us old folks in our mid-thirties. Teenagers and young adults are more prone to sending text messages on their BlackBerrys than they are to even talking on them. To give you an example, my teenage daughter only used 272 minutes during the entire month of July. This included peak and nights and weekend minutes. She, on the other hand, sent and received over 7000 text messages.
This post isn’t really meant to be an endorsement of QuickText because I haven’t tried the application yet. It is, however, an endorsement of the idea of SMS speed dial. QuickText costs $7.50, but, does have a 14-day free trial for you to check out. If you do, come back and tell us what you think.

Back in the Spring we talked about Tellme, an application from Microsoft that allows you to search for GPS locations and local business using your voice on your BlackBerry.
Many BlackBerry users, myself included, didn’t get to try Tellme when it first came out because the list of BlackBerry devices supported was fairly limited. Today, however, I received an email letting me know that the list of supported BlackBerrys has increased.
Specific details below:
- BlackBerry models now supporting the Tellme application are:
- Pearl: 8100, 8110, 8120 and 8130
- Curve: 8310, 8320 and 8330
- 8800 Series: 8800, 8820 and 8830
Search categories available today - with more to come in the months ahead are business search, traffic, driving directions, maps, weather and movies. To get started with Tellme’s BlackBerry service, users go to http://m.tellme.com and follow a few short steps to download the application to their phones.

Word on the street is that BlackBerry Media Sync, the free utility from RIM that allows you to sync non-DRM protected media from iTunes to your BlackBerry, will be officially released today.
You may remember about a month ago BlackBerry Media Sync kind of slipped out online and you were able to download it for a couple of days from Akamai’s Edgesuite servers. I downloaded it and used it a few times and it seemed to do exactly what it said it did.
It is believed that BlackBerry Media Sync will be found on www.blackberry.com/mediasync when it does become available. If you really want to sync your iTunes to your BlackBerry you may want to check that link later today.
