Research in Motion to unveil BlackBerry Remote Stereo Gateway

Research in Motion knows that the battlefield for smartphone supremacy is switching from the corporate market to the consumer market and it would appear that the BlackBerry maker is truly about to debut it’s first BlackBerry accessory truly targeting the consumer Market.

The Financial Post has discovered FCC filings of device registered to Taiwanese manufacturer, Uei Precision Industry Co., Ltd., however, the BlackBerry Remote Stereo Gateway has RIM’s logo and branding all over it.

The BlackBerry Remote Stereo Gateway is pretty much what it’s name implies. A little device that you plug into your stereo that connects wirelessly to your BlackBerry via Bluetooth from which it can play music files through you stereo.

Lets just hope that RIM is also working on the software side of things as well and will come out with a music store that you can buy songs over the air and a much improved media player.

The Vaja BlackBerry 8800 Case Is Perfect

by Robb Dunewood on April 2, 2007 · 3 comments

I think that I may have found the perfect BlackBerry case. Unfortunately for me, however, it is for the BlackBerry 8800.

The Classic for BlackBerry 8800 from Vaja is a a leather case with screen protection that fits the BlackBerry 8800 like a skin. From the looks of it, this leather BlackBerry case will offer great protection for your device while allowing you to place your BlackBerry on your Belt or in your pocket.

I am a BlackBerry in the pocket kind of guy for which most leather cases are too bulky to fit into comfortably. The Classic from Vaja doesn’t appear to have that problem.

I am a BlackBerry 7130e user and have no plans on moving to the 8800, however, if Vaja every makes this case for the 7130e or the Pearl, I will buy one the day they become available.

One of the big disappointments when the BlackBerry Pearl was first launched was that you couldn’t get any BlackBerry accessories for it when it first came out. This is not the case with the BlackBerry 8800. As a matter of fact, you can get BlackBerry 8800 accessories now and the BlackBerry 8800 doesn’t go on sale for at least another week.

Like it’s smaller cousin, the BlackBerry 8800 doesn’t come with a holster in the box. Don’t worry, however, because you can order a BlackBerry 8800 leather swivel case from the official BlackBerry Accessories store, ShopBlackBerry.com. There you will find the BlackBerry 8800 leather swivel case in several different colors as well as a bunch of other BlackBerry accessories like spare batteries, Bluetooth headsets, car chargers, and more.

I’m Looking For A Really Good Bluetooth Headset

by Robb Dunewood on January 31, 2007 · 10 comments

I am in the market for a really, really good Bluetooth Headset. I currently have a Plantronics Discovery 645 that I absolutely love and am seriously thinking about just moving up to the Plantronics Discovery 655 or possibly the BlackBerry branded version of the 655 (if it doesn’t cost too much more).

I figured, however, that this would be a good time to ask RIMarkable readers what Bluetooth headsets you swear by. I tend to like headsets with ear buds or gels and sound canceling technology like DSP is a must. I need to be able to hear and be heard in noisy airports and other public places with lots of background noise.

If you have or know of a headset that fits the bill, leave us a mini review in the comments.
