This is a stupid poll. Of course everyone will want the iPhone. It’s the newest hottest technology. It’s like asking if people want a 2007 porsche or a 2008 porsche that is about to come out. What do you think you would get?

If it’s June 1st (the supposed date iPhone will be available), and I can buy a just released phone (iPhone) vs. an almost 1 year old phone (Pearl); who would choose the Pearl?
Lets compare apples with apples…

It’s interesting this has come up. I just got myself a Blackberry after ‘hemming and hawing’ about it. What made the sale was going down to a local store and trying one out, I may not have bothered otherwise and probably would have ended up with a 8700.
After I blogged about my new purchase the following day the anouncement that Apple is getting ready to release the iPhone. I looked and sure enough it looks pretty. That is it for me, not until I get my ahnds on one to try it could I make a decision to actually purchase.
The point I am making here, is that visitors are going by Apple’s reputation with their previous offering of iPod, iVideo etc and assuming this is the next best and greatest gadget to hit the market.

Come on Ceebz,

Out of the 1500 or so posts here on RIMarkable, like 6 or so of them are about the iphone. Granted, the last 6.

We will start talking about how Cingular sucks, why it takes so long for Verizon to come out with new BlackBerrys, and if Jim Balsillie is still trying to buy the Penguins soon enough…

You should rename this blog as, “iPhone Obsession”.

Most people use Blackberry’s for enterprise email, contacts and calendar.

When the iPhone can do all that, let me know.

While these aren’t driving forces behind it, you should also consider the price difference and the fact that no one has actually seen the iPhone yet. I love my Pearl, but if i didn’t have one and you offered the option to me, I would take an iPhone because of these reasons. This goes in line with a previous comment that the iPhone fresh in everyone’s mind.

At least according to the comments on a post I wrote a couple of days ago, consumer BlackBerry users aren’t as geeked about the iPhone as I thought they might be. The iPhone’s practicality as a die-hard email device comes into question when compared to the BlackBerry.

The poll is ridiculous. You can’t compare the Pearl to the iPhone in the least – and with all the hype that’s around the iPhone, how would it NOT be top of mind?
