2nd Generation Bolt 2.1 Mobile Broswer Now Available

May 24, 2010 by Robb Dunewood 3 Comments

I just read a press release announcing that Bitstream’s second generation mobile browser, Bolt 2.1, has been released after a lengthy beta.  Bolt 2.1 is being touted as the most fully featured browser available for mobile phones of all types and offers the broadest mobile browser video support in the industry.

In just a few years it is expected that more people will be using the Internet on mobile devices than from desktop computers,” said Anna Magliocco-Chagnon, CEO of Bitstream. “Bitstream has engineered BOLT to maximize the utility of the Internet on mobile for end users, give handset manufacturers an important competitive differentiator for their mobile phone lines, and provide mobile network operators another way to compete for new users as well as to better manage the data usage on their networks. Bitstream has always believed there should be a singular entity called the Internet, as opposed to a desktop iteration alongside a lighter, less functional mobile version.

Bolt 2.1 Features Include:

  • Tabbed Browsing
  • HTML 5 Video Support
  • Enhanced Facebook Integration
  • Faster Widget Gallery
  • Webkit 4.03

You can download Bolt OTA to your BlackBerry by visiting the www.boltbrowser.com from your devices browser.  Bolt is also available on BlackBerry App World, though, not updated to the latest version at the time of this posting.

I couldn’t get the font to increase. Was too small for me.

I had the same problem. Could not get youtube videos to play as well. Seems overrated and overhyped.
