We haven’t done an awful lot of talking about the BlackBerry 9000 primarily because nothing really stood out as significantly superior to the BlackBerry Curve. Granted, the BlackBerry 9000 has a lot of memory and really clear display, but the BlackBerry 8800 style keyboard is con that outweighed the pros in my opinion.
That is until today, however, when he heard rumors that the BlackBerry 9000 sports a front facing video camera. The first thing that comes to mind when I see a mobile device with a video camera on the front and 3G speed is video conferencing.
I don’t know that the potential for video conferencing on a BlackBerry alone is enough to get me excited about the BlackBerry 9000, however, it is enough to get me to at least raise an eyebrow. I just may have to start paying a bit more attention to the BlackBerry 9000… Bad keyboard and all…

It looks like Verizon is taking strides to get with the times and is starting to offer customers what they want. The BlackBerry data only plan has been, oh, so elusive, however,Verizon has finally come around and is offering a plan for those BlackBerry users who never talk on the phone. They are going to charge the heck out of you for it, starting at $54.99 per month plus $0.25 per minute for those times that you do need to make a call, however, Verizon doesn’t do anything on the cheap and no one can say they don’t offer a data only plan anymore.
For your 55 bucks a month you get unlimited email, web browsing, and data usage. Personally, I just don’t see how this plan could ever be worth it if you use the phone even for just a few minutes per month. I admit, however, that I cannot remember a month when I used less than 600 or 700 minutes and usually regularly average over an hour per day especially when I am on the road.

It looks like T-Mobile has actually released the Wi-Fi enabled BlackBerry Pearl 8120. This isn’t exactly ground breaking BlackBerry news as you can already get the 8120 on AT&T, however, T-Mobile did miss their initial launch date for the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 by over a month, so, many T-Mobile subscribers have been waiting for this.
What is really cool about the T-Mobile version of the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 is that you can use its Wi-Fi capability to connect to HotSpot@Home, T-Mobile’s UMA technology that allows users to make unlimited calls over the internet for an additional $10 per month. This could come in handy for those BlackBerry users that make a lot of calls from home or places where Wi-Fi is readily available while keeping your monthly costs down.
The T-Mobile BlackBerry Pearl 8120 sells for $350, offers an instant $150 rebate with various monthly plans.
