Sync Your BlackBerry Calendar with Google Calendar

In their next move to control the flow of all information to and from everywhere, Google has released Google Sync for Mobile, a synchronization utility that will wirelessly keep the calendar application on your BlackBerry up to date with your Google Calendar.

All joking aside, this is a really cool application that many, myself included, have been waiting to come out since about the time GMail got BIS support.

If you have a BlackBerry and a Google Calendar account, I’ve got two words for you…

Download it

You can do so OTA right to your BlackBerry by pointing your devices browser to http://m.google.com/sync.

Why Doesn’t Yahoo! Go Run On The BlackBerry 8130?

So, I’ve been trying to check out this Yahoo! Go 2.0 on my new BlackBerry Pearl 8130 from Verizon, however, when I try to download it, it says that it is not compatible with my device.

I said to myself, “That can’t be right. Why in the world would Yahoo! software for that BlackBerry and not support one of the newest devices out?”

Well I did some digging and came across a BlackBerry compatibility list for Yahoo! Go containing 28 devices that the software will run on and, low and behold, the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 is indeed not on that list.

The question has to be asked… Why in the world would Yahoo put out software that doesn’t run on the BlackBerry 8130. Say what you want about Verizon and SureType. The 8130 was one of the most eagerly anticipated BlackBerry devices ever.

Will The BlackBerry Store Succeed?

If you haven’t heard already, the world’s first official BlackBerry Store opened it’s doors yesterday morning. At first, I thought, “Wow, pretty cool…” Now that I have thought about it a little longer, I wonder if The BlackBerry Store will actually succeed.

There is no doubt that the BlackBerry is one of the hottest selling smartphones on the market. When you look at the overall mobile phone market, however, the number of BlackBerry’s sold here in the U.S., even though more BlackBerrys are sold here than all other places combined, is just a rounding error compared to the total number of mobile devices sold.

Will the BlackBerry Store receive enough foot traffic to sell enough devices to keep the lights running? I know that they will sell training as well, however, BlackBerry training is nothing new and how far will people travel so that their BlackBerry training comes from a place that has an official BlackBerry logo on the marquee?

Will the BlackBerry Store succeed? Tell us what you think.
