Here is an stat that really doesn’t mean a whole lot in the grand scheme of things when it comes to how well the BlackBerry is really doing but it is an interesting statistic none the less. The fairly popular PDA site Brighthand says that the BlackBerry is the least popular PDA on it’s site.
Each month, Brighthand publishes a list of the most popular handhelds and smartphones. This report is compiled based on the number of views each product page receives, so every time someone clicks on a product they’re giving it a vote in these monthly rankings.
This listing doesn’t necessarily indicate which models are the best selling, just which ones Brighthand readers are most interesting in learning more about.

You are looking at a picture of a BlackBerry 8300, code name “Daytona”. This could quite possibly be the most perfectly designed BlackBerry to date. We will get to the features in second, but first, take a look at the design of this puppy. It has the BlackBerry 8800 form factor, however, the keyboard is absolutely beautiful. One of my biggest gripes about the BlackBerry 8800 is that the keys are too close together but the 8300 has a country mile in between each key in comparison.
We’ve got more BlackBerry 8300 pictures and it’s features after the jump.

Research in Motion co-CEO is voluntarily stepping down from his role of Chairman of the board at Research in Motion.
“Consistent with current best practices in corporate governance, the roles of chairman and CEO are being separated,” the firm said.
Balsillie’s resignation as chairman was a voluntary one and was done to allow “future consideration of a non-executive as chairman by the nominating committee.”
Last week was a relatively quiet one in the world of BlackBerry, however, this one started off with bang. RIM first announced that it would restate financials for the last 3 years or so and now the Balsillie steps down as chair.
I wonder what else we are in store for?

We’re still waiting for the press release to show up on RIM’s site, however, I just heard on Squawk Box that BlackBerry maker, Research in Motion, is going to restate financial statements going back as far as 2004 because of erroneous stock option grant reporting that could lower RIM’s earning by a quarter billion dollars.
That’s a lot of money. It isn’t “settle with NTP money”, but still, a lot of money. It will be interesting to see what RIM (RIMM) does in the markets today.
UPDATE: Here is the official word from RIM…

I’ve been hearing rumors lately and even received an email or two about an update to BlackBerry Desktop Manager due out shortly that has significant enhancements to the BlackBerry Media Manager.
Could it be that Roxio, the world’s leading provider of consumer digital media creation applications, has completely revamped the interface for the BlackBerry Media Manager, now allowing you to rip CDs and DVDs as well as added a ton of other features?
Remember, this is just a rumor, however, the days of the BlackBerry Pearl and BlackBerry 8800 absolutely sucking as an MP3 player may soon come to an end.
