Sprint Motorola Q to ship by the end of the month

January 7, 2007 by Robb Dunewood 1 Comment

I must not have been paying attention because I missed this last week, however, Sprint has officially announced the Motorola Q.

In a press release that came out last Thursday, Sprint said that the Motorola Q will be available online and in their business channel by the end of the month and in stores in by mid-February.

Hopefully Motorola has gotten many of the bugs worked out that initially plagued the Q when it was first released on Verizon back in May of last year.

Will You Leave Verizon To Get A BlackBerry 8800?

January 7, 2007 by Robb Dunewood 12 Comments

We know, according to the rumors, that the BlackBerry 8800 could be released as early as this month on T-Mobile and / or Cingular. Although many believe, myself included, that Verizon may release the BlackBerry 8800 much sooner than expected, possibly by Q1 according to some predictions, the norm for the carrier with undoubtedly the nations best network is to release CDMA versions of new BlackBerry devices 9 to 12 months after their GSM counterparts.

If Verizon sticks to business as usual and doesn’t plan to release the BlackBerry 8800 on their network until sometime after Thanksgiving to possibly a year from now, will you switch carriers to get the BlackBerry 8800?

Why Verizon has been able to get by releasing new Blackberry devices a year after other carriers and why that time has come to an end

January 5, 2007 by Robb Dunewood 29 Comments

I was reading a comment from a RIMarkable reader that calls himself EvilHomer about why he feels Verizon will never gain an edge as far as BlackBerry devices are concerned over GSM based carriers. Although I don’t agree with every point, I think he is dead on for the most part.

His post really made me think about just how Verizon has been able to get by with their strategy of releasing new BlackBerry devices almost a year behind their GSM competitors and doing very well for themselves while doing so.

His post also made me think about how this time is coming to an end for Verizon.

January 4, 2007 by Robb Dunewood 11 Comments

Howard Forums member ibby03 has just posted some pretty good quality Cingular BlackBerry 8900c pictures.

There is question to whether this device is actually the 8800c, however, ibby03 even called it the 8900c in the names of the images.
We’ve got several more pictures after the jump.

Pictures of a White BlackBerry Pearl back plate or just a white back plate? You decide…

January 4, 2007 by Robb Dunewood 2 Comments

Over on BlackBerry Forums new forum member ojrana has posted a couple of pictures that he claims to be the back plate from the rumored white BlackBerry Pearl.

ojrana started a thread about the White BlackBerry Pearl back at the end of November, several days before BoyGenius mentioned it in his BlackBerry Cool interview at the beginning of January. The problem for ojrana was that the white Pearl rumor thread was his first post. Forums members tend to take rumors started by brand new members with grain of salt.

The BlackBerry could be the greatest Canadian invention ever

January 3, 2007 by Robb Dunewood 3 Comments

Update: Canada voted and the BlackBerry is the 18th Greatest Canadian Invention…

Today is the day that we will find out if the BlackBerry, according to CBC viewers, is the Greatest Canadian Invention.

The BlackBerry, along with 49 other Canadian inventions are in the running and votes will be tallied from all over Canada to see who the winner is.

As much as we love the BlackBerry I don’t think it has too much of a chance. Although it may make the short list, it has to compete with inventions such as the telephone, the electric oven, insulin, and even the retractable beer carton handle.
