Free VoIP for BlackBerry from EQO

EQO Communications today announced support for Blackberry and Windows Mobile devices, enabling those users to access VoIP calling and IM services(including AIM, ICQ, GoogleTalk, Jabber, MSN, Yahoo! and Skype) on their smart-phone.

From what I can tell so far, if you want to use the VoIP capabilities of EQO you must install the EQO Mobile client on your BlackBerry in addition to running the EQO for Skype client on your computer. I am downloading EQO to my BlackBerry as I write this post and will put up a review once a get a chance to play with it.

BlackBerry Pearl Makes Cover of Laptop Magazine

As you can see on the picture to the right, the BlackBerry Pearl is featured on the cover of the November issue of Laptop Magazine.

The Pearl is one of 6 new smartphones profiled in the SmartPhone Showdown. Although we don’t know if the BlackBerry Pearl won the Showdown, a subscription is required to find out, we will assume that since the Pearl appears on the the cover, it at least placed near the top.

If any RIMarkable readers have a subscription to Laptop magazine feel free to leave us a comment and tell us how the BlackBerry Pearl did.

Verizon… Can we skip the BlackBerry Pearl and go straight to the BlackBerry 8800?

Hey Verizon,

We know that it takes you a year to get the CDMA version of BlackBerry devices after everyone else gets the GPRS ones, so I make this request on behalf of the all the BlackBerry 7250 and 8703e users that would like to go to a CameraBerry with a full QWERTY keyboard but don’t want to wait until 2008 to get one.

Can we skip the BlackBerry Pearl and go straight to the BlackBerry 8800 Crimson?

We know that you have a lot of BlackBerry 7130e customers that are happy with SureType. Heck, I am one of them, however, it is more about the size of the 7130e and not so much the SureType keyboard that attracts people to it. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t have a problem with SureType and actually think it is kind of cool. I, however, don’t have a problem with full QWERTY keyboards either so long as the device that I am using it on isn’t the size of pocket calculator from 1984.

BerryBlogging: Posting to your blog from your Blackberry

Over on blip.tv there is a video of a guy creating a blog post from his BlackBerry 8700c. I have posted the occasional blog entry here on RIMarkable using my BlackBerry, however, unlike in the video where the blogger is actually posting via the web, I use the email to post functionality built into my blog engine.

Now that BlackBerrys are coming with a bit more horse power and expandable memory, I would like to see blogging from your BlackBerry or BerryBlogging as I like to call it move to the next level. I think that a blog editor that would allow you to incorporate images that you take with your BlackBerry or have stored somewhere in memory would be really cool.
