Is BlackBerry Connect for the Nokia E61 Ready?

May 30, 2006 by Robb Dunewood 10 Comments

Earlier today All about Symbian reported that BlackBerry Connect for the Nokia E61 was available for download on the Nokia Business Software site and for a short time it was, however, the download has since been removed.

In the place of the Nokia E61 BlackBerry Connect download is a notice stating that
“The BlackBerry client for Nokia E60, Nokia E61 and Nokia E70 available soon. Please stay tuned.”

My guess is that they found some last minute bugs and had to pull the download from the site….

This BlackBerry Killer has no chance…

May 26, 2006 by Robb Dunewood 4 Comments

The Inquirer has the scoop on an a company here in North America that is planning another so called BlackBerry Killer that, in my opinion, is doomed before it it gets off the ground. Believe it or not, someone has the bright idea that a “clamshell” two-way pager with no voice capability and a proprietary OS is somehow going to dethrone the BlackBerry from it’s lofty pirch on top of the wireless email market. I have 7 words for this marketing genius…

Have you completely lost your frigging mind?

Would you use a BlackBerry with no data plan?

May 23, 2006 by Robb Dunewood 149 Comments

There is a very interesting thread over on Howard Forums that asks if you would use a BlackBerry without a data plan. For me personally, the BlackBerry is not a good enough PDA nor mobile phone for me to use it without being able to get email or even browse the web. Others have a very different opinion, however.

The Motorola Q available from Verizon on May 31st…

May 23, 2006 by Robb Dunewood 8 Comments

After a few delays it looks like Motorola’s Q that kind-of-sort-of competes with the BlackBerry is finally coming out. The Moto Q will be available online May 31st and in Verizon stores by June 5th.

Although you can get email on the Q kind of like on a BlackBerry, I think that the traditional PDA manufacturers like HP and Dell are the ones would should be concerned with loosing even more share. The Q has been dubbed the BlackBerry Killer but I think that it will be more of a Pocket PC killer.

The BlackBerry 8707v should hit any day now…

May 22, 2006 by Robb Dunewood 3 Comments

The BlackBerry 8707v hasn’t been officially announced yet but here is more evidence that it’s arrival really is imminent.

Russell Shaw from BBHub has found a BlackBerry Knowledge Base Article titled 8707v does not support BlackBerry services when used for dial-up networking.

The BlackBerry 8707vTM can be used as an external modem to connect a laptop computer to the Internet. When providing a dial-up network connection, the BlackBerry handheld cannot support other BlackBerry services (for example, email reconciliation or calendar synchronization).
